There were a pair of planes that flew over. I was able to spot one of them, but the other was already gone from sight.
I was going to get her photoshoot a week prior, but wasn't sure about the surrounding color. This particular beach has a lot of limestone and limestone coated rocks of other kinds. So, the colors are very white, which for some horse colors, is not contrasting enough. I was surprisingly able to have a good spot close to my chair and umbrella that I didn't need to move closer to the water.
Oddly, her name came to me way before Breyerfest even started - at least, probably when she was revealed as the Celebration Horse. It's Cora Bora. I suspect it has to do with the Regular Run Sweetwater Zorah Belle...which I still want to get, so that Cora and Zorah could be sisters.
So, why Cora Bora?
Well, Cora rhymes with Zorah.
But, where does Bora come from?
Cora Bora sounds like the song "Bora Bora"
So, I did some researching to make sure that I wasn't accidentally naming her after something not good. I ended up finding out that Bora Bora is an island in the French Polynesian Islands and there's a popular resort there. It is also described as the "Pearl of the Pacific."
Pearls, ok. That's when I realized that she was the color of some pearls. So, I looked up the different colors of pearls and where they come from. The one she matched the most are actually the lighter shade of black pearls.

Next up is Kilkenny. He was one of the Store Specials (Öjvind). When I first saw him, I knew he was a must and would be a perfect mate for Banks Vanilla, my grey Connemara mare who I have had for quite awhile now and have yet to find a mate for - until now! YAY!
And they really are perfect for each other!
While I was at it, I took some new halter photos of "Banks."
I almost kept is original name, Vindur, but couldn't help, but notice that he literally is the color of dark chocolate. So, I renamed him the Icelandic word for chocolate: Súkkulaði. It's pronounced soo-ku-lah-thee. It literally has the same rhythm as the English word Chocolate!
Sometimes, it's really hard for me to comprehend the horizon line through the view finder. This is a really cool photo, but I can't crop it because it was taken too close to him! Ugh!
He was another Store Special that I knew would be a perfect match for my Icelandic mare, Elska, one of the few and first Flagship models that is a mare - the majority are all studs! Originally, I was thinking of the Grulla Icelandic Stallion Collector Club model would be a good mate for her, but Súkkulaði is a much better and striking match. The other guy is still cool, though.
The coolest pose for this mold is always from the rear, capturing the flowyness of the mane and tail!
And just like with Banks Vanilla, I got some new halter photos of Elska, too!
And then there's Thor! He's the Traditional Access Decorator Special Run, The Wanderer. Lately, I have been interested in Decorators for some odd reason...maybe because I finally figured out how to make fantasy breeds out of them (I think Persius/Breyer's JAH Mirror Image being the first). Anyways, he totally reminded me of the Norse god, Thor. At first, I was trying Loki, but it didn't fit. He is literally the color of thunderstorms! My mom even agreed that he looks like a "Thor" in his facial structure.
He also has two different colored eyes! The right is this light blue, while the left is a darker blue.
There were a lot of interesting clouds that day.

Though, the Cache County Fair is this week, so probably next week....
